The History Of Alpha Chi
It was the year of 1931 at the North Carolina College for Negroes in Durham, North Carolina. Frances Eagleson, a member of the Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, chartered the Alpha Chi Chapter on Tuesday, February 23, 1932. Seventeen young women, also known as the Marvelous 17, were the first members initiated into Alpha Chi. Despite being chartered during the Great Depression, the Alpha Chi Chapter flourished while demonstrating friendship, loyalty, dedication, and above all things, sisterhood. Through the years, a sense of pride has remained within Alpha Chi as the members continue to serve North Carolina Central University and the Durham community, AXemplifying the true meaning of service to all mankind.
